Rock In Virtually Atomic Levels - Rival is Montreal’s hard-hitting, auspiciously-creative quartet reinventing hard rock and metal with a wild flavour. “Rival rock, they groove, they experiment, they stomp, they get funky, they get melodic and atmospheric, these guys are seriously good!” - Fireworks Magazine
Dedicated to the craft and hungry for more knowledge and skills, they worked for 2 years solid and released their entirely self engineered and produced LP “Tales From The Bluesy Tomb” in 2017. Up-ended couches, office dividers, blankets and guitar cases were used in a Macgyver-ish way to get the job done. Throughout the process and since the release Rival continued to play dozens of shows in and around Montreal and eastern Ontario. 2018 was spent mostly performing and writing new material.
Rival placed 2nd in the 2016 LME Showcase at Club Soda, Montreal. In Autumn 2017 “Tales From The Bluesy Tomb” was included in Fireworks Magazine out of the U.K. and received an illuminating review. Rival is the only band to play Basin Fest Montreal every year since its start 2016.
A new LP is underway! Rival has teamed up with Avbury Studios for their next release. It will include Nine new tracks that really explore the metal side of Rival and also an atmospheric, Pink Floyd inspired track, that somehow meshes perfect with intensity of the rest of the album. This one is gonna get the moshers moshing, the bangers bangin’ and the vibers vibin’. The planned release is June 2019.
